Lula mentioned that he told Trump that with three meetings, he would realize that Bolsonaro was insignificant. The former president also highlighted that it was untrue what was said about Bolsonaro’s trial in a US letter justifying the taxation on Brazil.
Lula explained to Trump that the trial was very serious, with compelling evidence. He mentioned the severity of the attempted actions in Brazil, stating they had a plan to harm him, his vice president, and Alexandre de Moraes. Highlighting that the evidence presented was based on the defendants’ testimonies, not opposition evidence, Lula emphasized that they had a fair trial with a defense grant, contrasting his own trial experience.
Before their meeting started, Lula and Trump briefly spoke to the press. When questioned about Bolsonaro, Trump expressed sadness regarding the circumstances surrounding the former president.
