Maj Gen Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami, the Commander of the United Arab Emirates Land Forces, is currently on an official visit to India from October 27-28. His visit aims to strengthen bilateral military cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration, particularly in training and capability enhancement. Upon arrival, he was given a ceremonial welcome and received an in-depth briefing on Operation Sindoor, as announced by the defence ministry on Monday.
The high-level visit signifies efforts to enhance bilateral military cooperation and delve into new prospects for collaboration, especially in training and capability enhancement, stated the ministry. It highlights the commitment of both countries to further fortify and intensify their enduring defense partnership. Furthermore, during his visit, Maj Gen Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami was briefed by the director general of information systems and the Army Design Bureau on India’s defense capabilities and artificial intelligence roadmap for the Indian Army.
Tuesday’s agenda includes laying a wreath at the National War Memorial and visiting the DRDO for a detailed briefing on various indigenous weapon and equipment platforms. Additionally, he will engage with Samir V Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and chairman of DRDO, and meet with representatives of Indian defense industries to discuss mutual interests.
The visit of the Commander is deemed a significant milestone in the defense cooperation between the UAE and India, aiming to strengthen the already robust defense ties. This visit will cement the foundation for a more resilient and forward-facing partnership in military involvement and regional security cooperation, emphasized the defense ministry.
