Youth Pledge Day is commemorated every October 28th in Indonesia. The commemoration is done by holding a ceremony to honor the struggle of Indonesian youth. Usually, the ceremony is accompanied by the reading of a prayer. Youth Pledge Day was established to commemorate the historic event on October 28, 1928 when Indonesian youth pledged: one motherland, one nation, one language. This moment became the foundation of national unity amidst the diversity of ethnicity, religion, and culture. The 97th anniversary in 2025 is an opportunity to actualize these values in a contemporary context.
