Shreyas Iyer: Major Update on Shreyas Iyer’s Health, BCCI Announces Medical Update

Indian cricket team’s vice-captain Shreyas Iyer is now on the road to recovery. On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the star batsman’s health is now stable and under medical supervision. During the third ODI against Australia, he suffered an injury while fielding and had to be taken to a hospital in Sydney. Iyer’s health has shown improvement, and according to another medical update released by BCCI, it was stated that ‘Shreyas Iyer suffered a severe blow to his abdomen during the third ODI against Australia on October 25. He experienced discomfort in the rib cage area, which worsened after fielding. Upon returning to the dressing room, he complained of pain and had difficulty breathing, leading to a further deterioration of his condition. As a result, he was immediately taken to the hospital. Doctors discovered internal bleeding, prompting his admission to the ICU. Currently, Shreyas Iyer’s condition is stable and he is under medical observation.’ BCCI further revealed that ‘today, during a follow-up medical examination conducted on Tuesday, an improvement in his health was noted.’ The BCCI medical team will consult with specialists from Sydney and India to assess his condition. Shreyas is recovering quickly and steadily on the path to good health. How did Shreyas Iyer get injured? The incident occurred during the third ODI when Australian spinner Alex Carey hit a high shot off Harshal Patel. Iyer successfully caught the ball with a remarkable dive at backward point but landed hard, sustaining a serious injury to his rib cage. He had to leave the field and will undergo a monitoring period lasting from two to seven days based on his health improvement, as it is crucial to prevent the spread of infection caused by internal bleeding.
