Moraes takes over ADPF of the Favelas and demands PGR’s response on operation in RJ

With Luís Roberto Barroso’s retirement, Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) temporarily assumed the leadership of the ‘ADPF of the Favelas’. On Tuesday (28), Moraes instructed the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) to comment on the large-scale police operation carried out in Rio de Janeiro. The management of the process was temporarily transferred to Moraes until the new minister appointed to the Supreme Court takes office, during which time he will be responsible for urgent decisions and rulings related to the case. As the action does not have a reviewing minister according to the STF Internal Rules, the case was moved to Moraes to ensure continuity in the analysis of pending issues in the case.
