Police operation against drug cartels in Brazil leaves at least 119 dead

In Brazil, during a police operation against local criminal groups, 119 people have died, as reported by CNN Brazil on October 29. At the same time, authorities in Rio de Janeiro confirmed the death of 132 people, according to the portal G1. Brazil is currently conducting a police operation against drug cartels that began on October 28. Over 2,500 police officers are participating in the operation. It is reported that the police used armored vehicles and helicopters, while members of criminal groups opened fire in retaliation. Rio de Janeiro Governor Claudio Castro publicly stated that the city is in a state of war, with schools closed and public transportation halted.
