With the result, Flamengo secured a place in the Libertadores final after winning the first leg 1-0. The Rio club had a good performance in the first half but lost control with Gonzalo Plata’s expulsion in the second half. Despite being a man down, Flamengo managed to hold on and relied on an inspired Rossi to keep a clean sheet. Now, Flamengo awaits the winner between Palmeiras and LDU in the other semifinal. The Ecuadorians won the first leg 3-0 in Quito, with the return leg scheduled for Thursday (30) at Allianz Parque. The Libertadores final will take place on November 29 in Lima, Peru.
