A report from residents ended, early on Friday (31), with an intense armed confrontation in the Campinas neighborhood, in Canindé, Ceará. The action took place near the local cemetery and ended with seven people dead, according to information provided by authorities to Diário do Nordeste. As reported by TV Verdes Mares, the alleged confrontation occurred after residents alerted the presence of the Military Police in the neighborhood, as armed men were circulating in the area. The officers responded to the call and went to investigate the information. Upon encountering the armed suspects, the team was reportedly fired upon. No police officers were injured in the operation. During the incident, the agents seized: A rifle; four pistols; three revolvers; two grenades that were detonated on the spot; a vehicle (Fiat Palio model, silver in color, and license plate PMZ 7I90) used by the suspects was also seized. The area was cordoned off for Forensic Examination work. The case is being investigated by the Canindé Regional Police Station, which aims to identify the deceased and determine the origin of the seized weapons.
