Sam Rivers, the bassist of the American rock band Limp Bizkit, passed away in the bathroom of his Florida home. The circumstances of his death were revealed by TMZ, citing a police report.
According to police documents, a woman named Kelly called 911. She reported finding Sam lying face down in a pool of blood in the bathroom. Paramedics performed CPR on the musician upon arrival, but to no avail.
The report stated that the deceased’s face and neck were dark blue, while the rest of the body was red, consistent with a pulmonary artery thromboembolism. Law enforcement officers noticed a small amount of coagulated blood in the bathroom, which may have resulted from a fall from the toilet. Additionally, the man had a lacerated eye, possibly also from the fall.
Kelly informed the sheriff’s deputies that Sam had undergone a liver transplant in 2018 and had been taking medication since then. He occasionally consumed alcohol.
The official cause of death was not disclosed.
Formed in Florida in 1994, Limp Bizkit became one of the most well-known bands in the nu-metal genre. They have been nominated for three Grammy Awards, and their worldwide album sales have exceeded 40 million copies. Sam Rivers was a key member of the band since its inception. In 2015, he temporarily left the group after developing liver disease due to excessive alcohol consumption. As reported by ‘Fontanka,’ he passed away on October 19 at the age of 48.
