Former pilot’s worrying message about Márquez’s injury: ‘It’s more serious than they have explained’

Marc Márquez won’t get back on a bike in 2026. His crash at the Indonesia Grand Prix forced him into surgery after a serious injury to his right shoulder, where he already had four previous operations that caused him so much suffering.

Initially, there were speculations that Marc could even return before the end of the season. At first, the injury was not supposed to require surgery, but the recovery did not go as planned. The fractured ligaments did not heal enough, leading the rider from Cervera to undergo surgery a few weeks ago.

This situation meant that Marc said goodbye to the season, with the title already secured, but without the option to participate in the end-of-year tests, crucial for the development of the 2026 Ducati. However, for Rubén Xaus, a former ‘SuperBikes’ rider, that should not be Marc’s biggest concern.

According to the Spanish ex-rider, Márquez has a more serious injury than expected: ‘There has been a great silence and caution around Marc’s injury; people have learned to be serious about their physical condition. This injury is more challenging than what has been explained.’
