Egypt opens grand museum designed by Irish firm to the public

Egypt officially opened the Grand Egyptian Museum to the public, showcasing pharaonic grandeur designed by Irish architects from Heneghan Peng Architects. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi marked the occasion by stating, ‘Today, as we celebrate together the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, we are writing a new chapter in the history of the present and future.’ The museum spans half a million square meters and houses approximately 100,000 artifacts, with half of them on display, dating back over six millennia. The inauguration event featured a light and music show, with performers in Pharaonic costumes, laser shows, and fireworks illuminating the night sky above the museum.
