Expressing his happiness over receiving a Special Jury Mention (Acting) for his performance in Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM), actor Tovino Thomas told News18 Kerala, ‘My biggest aim while working on the movie was to ensure that it turned out well. This was the first time I did a triple role, and I was initially sceptical about whether I would be able to pull them off. However, my friends motivated me. When it eventually hit the screens, it became a big success, and that itself brought me much happiness.’ He also mentioned that the production of the film was strenuous, given its demanding nature.
Tovino further expressed his elation at Mammootty winning the Best Actor award for Bramayugam and Asif Ali receiving a Special Jury Mention (Acting) for his performance in Kishkindha Kaandam. ARM also won the awards for Best Playback Singer – Male (KS Harishankar for the track ‘Kiliye’) and Best VFX (Jithin Lal, Albert Thomas, and Anirudhda Mukherjee).
Christo Xavier won the Best Music Director (Background Score) award at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards for his work in Bramayugam. Reacting to the recognition, Christo told Onmanorama, ‘I was already so happy that Dies Irae is being celebrated in theatres. This feels like an added joy for me. I didn’t expect the award at all. People had mentioned that my name was in consideration, and that alone made me happy.’
Actor Asif Ali received a Special Jury Mention at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards for his performances in Level Cross and Kishkindha Kaandam. Reacting to the recognition, Asif said that being nominated alongside Mammootty itself was a matter of great joy. He added, ‘This award gives me immense courage to keep striving forward. My career has always had its ups and downs, and this recognition gives me the energy to continue working harder.’
Speaking to the media after winning his seventh Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor, Malayalam megastar Mammootty expressed his happiness and gratitude. When asked how he felt about winning in the category and triumphing over actors from various generations, he said, ‘This is a journey. A lot of people will walk alongside us in this. This is not a competition, right?’ When a reporter pointed out that most of the trophies had been clinched by the younger generation, the megastar quipped with his signature wit, ‘Am I old? Don’t I belong to this generation as well?’
Actors Asif Ali and Tovino Thomas, who were in the race for the award for best actor, were bestowed with Special Jury Mention (Acting) for their performances in Kishkindha Kaandam and Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM), respectively. Actors Darshana Rajendran and Jyothirmayi also earned Special Jury Mention (Acting) for their powerful portrayals in Paradise and Bougainvillea, respectively.
In the biggest win of the event, Malayalam megastar Mammootty bagged the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his spectacular performance in director Rahul Sadasivan’s folk horror Bramayugam. With this achievement, Mammootty has become the actor who has won the most in this category. This marks his seventh award.
