Microsoft to Ship Nvidia Chips to United Arab Emirates; Invest $15.2 Billion

Microsoft revealed on Monday that it has obtained export licenses to ship Nvidia chips to the United Arab Emirates, aiming to enhance its artificial intelligence objectives. The company stated that it is the first to receive such licenses from the Department of Commerce under the Trump administration, with approval granted in September. Microsoft’s decision was based on ‘updated and stringent technology safeguards.’ In a statement, President Brad Smith emphasized the beneficial impact of the GPUs, allowing access to advanced AI models from various providers. Following the announcement, Nvidia shares increased by 3% while Microsoft’s stock saw a slight rise, as reported by CNBC.
