Netherlands agrees to return stolen ancient sculpture to Egypt

The Netherlands has agreed to return a 3,500-year-old sculpture to Egypt, a significant artifact that was unearthed at an art fair and exhibition in Maastricht three years prior. Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof confirmed this decision during a visit to Egypt, coinciding with the grand opening of the new Grand Egyptian Museum, home to an impressive collection of over 100,000 artifacts, including Tutankhamun’s treasures. The sculpture in question is a stone head representing a high-ranking official from the era of Pharaoh Thutmose III, dating back to around 1504-1450 B.C.
