Microsoft Announces $15.2 Billion AI and Cloud Computing Investments in UAE

U.S. tech giant Microsoft made a significant announcement on Monday, unveiling plans to invest a total of $15.2 billion in artificial intelligence and cloud computing initiatives in the United Arab Emirates. The company’s vice chairman and president, Brad Smith, shared that Microsoft has already invested $7.3 billion in the Gulf country since 2023, with an added commitment of $7.9 billion by the end of 2029. The news had a positive impact on U.S. chip-maker Nvidia’s shares, increasing by 2.6% on the hopes of expanding access to advanced chips in more markets. Smith clarified in a blog post during his visit to Abu Dhabi that the investment was coming directly from Microsoft and not raised within the UAE.
