Malaysia’s Deliberate Approach to BRICS Membership, According to Tok Mat

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will take a careful approach before deciding whether to become a full member of the BRICS bloc, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. The Foreign Minister mentioned the importance of evaluating this decision meticulously to avoid jeopardizing Malaysia’s longstanding neutrality policy. He emphasized the need for caution to prevent any unintended consequences. Despite the freedom provided by the Reciprocal Trade Agreement with the United States, careful observation is crucial. Currently, Malaysia’s status as a partner country to BRICS suffices, as stated during his speech in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday.
