Microsoft to Invest $15 Billion in UAE and Secure US Export Licenses for Nvidia Chips

Microsoft is set to expand its investment in the United Arab Emirates to $15 billion by the end of 2029 and has obtained approval from the Trump administration to export Nvidia chips for its data centers in the region. The UAE has been actively investing in becoming a global artificial intelligence hub, leveraging its strong ties with the US to access advanced technology, including cutting-edge chips. As stated by Microsoft Vice Chairman Brad Smith, the major part of the investment will be directed towards expanding AI data centers across the UAE to meet the growing demand for AI applications. This move aligns with Microsoft’s strategy to cater to the increasing need for AI technologies in the region.
