Zohran Mamdani will win the general election for mayor of New York City this Tuesday (4), according to the CNN projection. With this victory, he will become the first Muslim to lead the largest city in the United States. In the electoral dispute, Mamdani, a 34-year-old democratic socialist, faced Andrew Cuomo, 67 years old, a democrat who ran independently after losing to Mamdani in the primaries. The proposals of the Democratic Party candidate include a plan to create the city’s first universal daycare program, make municipal buses free, and freeze rent for 1 million tenants with stabilized rent in the city.

Socialist and Muslim, Mamdani is elected mayor of NY, says CNN projection
