In Nepal, the Nepalese Communist Party has emerged as a powerful force. Ten left-wing parties have come together. Parties such as CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Nepal Socialist Party, CPN (Socialist), People’s Socialist Party, Nepal Communist Party (Maoist-Centre-Socialist), CPN (Socialist) joined forces to form a united party which has been officially recognized. As part of this, agreements were reached on 18 points. The Nepalese Communist Party was formed. The United Party elected Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) and Madhav Kumar Nepal as coordinators. In a national unity assembly held in the capital Kathmandu at the Bhrikuti Mandap, their election took place.
