American East Coast voters showed overwhelming support for Democrats on Tuesday (4). Candidates from all ideological spectrums within the party were elected, clearly demonstrating discontent with US President Donald Trump, almost one year into his second term. In Virginia, former moderate congresswoman Abigail Spanberger had the best Democratic performance in the state’s recent history, securing a comfortable victory. In New Jersey, another moderate congresswoman, Mikie Sherrill, dismantled the coalition that Trump and his Republican rival, former state legislator Jack Ciattarelli, had formed to narrow the gap in the state during the last elections.
