Violence has been ongoing in Sudan since 2019, with the current conflict potentially leading to increased casualties. In the recent attack in the city of Al-Obeid by Sudan’s militia groups, approximately 40 civilians were reported dead. The city is the capital of the North Kordofan region and has been a focal point of intense conflict for the past two years. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated that the Monday attacks resulted in the deaths of several individuals, but the perpetrators remained unidentified.
