Indonesia’s Bold Move: Jonatan Christie and Fajar Alfian-Shohibul Fikri Left Out of SEA Games

Indonesia has opted for a bold strategy by excluding big names Jonatan Christie and Fajar Alfian-Shohibul Fikri from the SEA Games badminton competition in Thailand from Dec 7-14. The Indonesian National Badminton Association (PBSI) decided to focus on a team mix of experience and youth. Rising stars Alwi Farhan, Moh Zaki Ubaidillah, Yohanes Saut, and Prahdiska Bagas will replace Jonatan Christie in the men’s singles event. In the men’s doubles, Leo Rolly-Bagas Maulana and younger players Raymond Indra and Nikolas Joaquin will step up in the absence of Fajar Alfian-Shohibul Fikri. World No. 11 Gregoria Mariska’s spot in the women’s singles will be filled by Putri Kusuma and promising talents Mutiara Ayu, Thalita Wiryawan, and Ni Kadek Dhinda.
