Paramilitary RSF agrees to Sudan humanitarian truce proposed by Quad nations

The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Thursday that they have accepted a humanitarian truce in Sudan, which was proposed by the Quad countries – the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, as reported by Anadolu. According to a statement released by the RSF, the rebel group expressed its willingness to ‘implement the agreement and start discussions immediately regarding the arrangements for a cessation of hostilities and the core principles guiding the political process in Sudan.’ The RSF emphasized the importance of addressing the root causes of the conflict and establishing ‘a fair, all-encompassing, and enduring peace.’ There has been no immediate response from the Sudanese government regarding the statement. Khartoum had previously laid down conditions for any political dialogue with the RSF, demanding the withdrawal of the rebel group from occupied cities and their exclusion from any future political roles.
