Economic and demographic growth in Brazil support Heineken’s investments in the country. The global president of the Dutch group stated that the investment of R$ 2.5 billion in the new brewery in Passos (MG) aims to capture the growth opportunities that the Brazilian market represents. The new plant will increase the group’s installed capacity in Brazil by 10%. ‘We are confident that Brazil represents GDP and population growth. That’s why the country will continue to attract investments from around the world,’ said Dolf van den Brink, Heineken’s global president.
In the last six years, Heineken has invested R$ 6 billion in Brazil, where the company now operates 14 breweries, including the new unit. The brewery in Passos was designed to triple in size in terms of production and reach 15 million hectoliters annually. When this happens, it will be the largest within the Dutch group worldwide.
