Norris wins sprint at Interlagos; Bortoleto crashes on last lap

Lando Norris of McLaren won the sprint race at the Interlagos Grand Prix on Saturday at the Interlagos circuit, establishing a lead in the Drivers’ Championship. The British driver led from start to finish, with Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, both from Mercedes, completing the podium. Max Verstappen finished in fourth place. Oscar Piastri of McLaren lost control early in the race, crashed, and retired. The Australian driver saw his teammate extend the championship lead by nine points. Gabriel Bortoleto had a strong accident on the last lap of the race. In a battle with Alexander Albon for 10th place, the Brazilian failed to brake on the main straight and hit the wall, destroying his car. The Sauber driver was unharmed in the accident. Later on Saturday, at 3pm (Brasília time), the drivers returned to the track for the qualifying session for the race on Sunday. The race is scheduled to start at 2pm on Sunday.
