Lira’s involvement in the Bolsonarist articulation to put an end to the amnesty for the coup plotters

After more than 30 hours of Bolsonarist obstruction, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), only managed to resume the presidency of the House on Wednesday night by signaling that he will respect the majority’s will regarding the amnesty for the plotters of January 8 and the PEC that alters the rules of the privileged forum. The opposition’s retreat came after a meeting of over four hours at the Official Residence of the Chamber’s Presidency, followed by two more hours of deadlock in the plenary, where deputies continued to prevent Motta from sitting at the Table. The crisis was only overcome after the intervention of former Chamber President Arthur Lira (PP-AL), who acted as an articulator alongside Centrão leaders.
