Ranji Trophy: Kerala Takes 73-Run Lead Against Saurashtra

In the Ranji Trophy cricket match, Kerala holds a 73-run lead over Saurashtra. Kerala concluded their first innings at 233. Saurashtra, batting in their second innings, faced a setback with a loss of 47 runs in 17 overs. In their first innings, Saurashtra was all out for 160. With two wickets down and 82 runs on the board on the second day of batting, Kerala started off with a loss from Ahmed Imran, who lost his wicket with a score of 10. At a score of 128, Rohan Kunnummal (80) also departed. Rohan emerged as Kerala’s top scorer. The skipper, Muhammad Azharuddeen, failed to capitalize and was dismissed without scoring. However, the sixth-wicket partnership of Ankit Sharma and Bab Aparajith added 78 runs to bring Kerala in the lead. Ankit Sharma, who scored 38 runs, was dismissed by Dharmendra Singh Jadeja, ending the partnership. Varun Nayanar and Basil Thampi also fell without making a significant contribution, leading to Bab Aparajith’s dismissal at 69 runs. Jaydev Unadkat took four wickets, while Chintan Gaja and Kamlesh Makvana picked two wickets each. Saurashtra opened their second innings but lost Harvik Desai early as he was caught behind by Rohan Kunnummal off Nidheesh’s delivery. However, the second day saw Gujarat’s Samarth Vyas (20*) and Jay Gohil (22*) holding their ground to complete the day without further losses.
