US Senate Passes Resolution to End Government Shutdown

The US Senate passed a resolution in the early hours of Monday by a procedural vote of 60 to 40, which will contribute to renewing the funding for the federal government, food assistance, and veteran programs until January 30th. It required 60 votes for approval, with the resolution being supported by eight Democrats. A bipartisan agreement was reached prior to the vote, which includes overturning President Donald Trump’s orders to dismiss federal employees and provisions to prevent such actions in the future. The document also allows for the rehiring of federal employees who were dismissed during the shutdown.
