Mother reports own son for murder of woman in Rio; victim was pushing baby in stroller when killed

According to g1, Erick Santos Maria, who was driving the motorcycle during the crime, and Davi de Souza Malto, the shooter, confessed to the crime at the Homicide Police Station. Kelly Silva de Souza, Davi’s mother, recognized her son, who had also told neighbors that he had killed someone:
‘I want to ask for forgiveness from this father. This family of Laís that cries. Because if I’m suffering, I know their pain is much greater. Because her children will live without their mother. I didn’t raise a criminal, folks. My son was a good boy,’ the woman lamented to g1.
‘Where we live, everyone can testify how friendly he was. I can’t accept it, I recognized my son in the photos. I recognized my son in the image. I called to report my son. Because my son was born in the church, played guitar in the worship ministry. I never imagined my son would take the life of an innocent girl. I raised him with great difficulty,’ she continued.
According to the police, the two suspects were hired for R$ 20,000 to carry out the crime. Initially, they were supposed to monitor Laís, but decided to execute the murder.
A security camera recorded the final moments of Laís de Oliveira Gomes Pereira’s life, 24, killed while walking with her son in a stroller down Travessa Santa Vitória, in Sepetiba, West Zone of Rio, last Tuesday. The footage shows the young woman crossing the street with her baby just before being shot.
In the video, Laís can be seen pushing the stroller with the baby. The video has been circulating on social media and is being analyzed by agents from the Capital Homicide Police Station, who are trying to identify the perpetrator and understand the motive behind the murder.
Witnesses stated that Laís had just dropped off her older daughter, 4, at school and was on her way back home pushing the stroller with her younger son, 1 year and 8 months old, who was unharmed.
