Indonesia’s Prabowo Subianto to Embark on First Official Visit to Australia

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to visit Australia on Wednesday, marking his first official trip to the country since taking office last year. The visit was confirmed by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who provided limited information about the upcoming visit. Prabowo’s most recent visit to Australia was in August last year when he served as the Minister of Defense and President-elect. He was sworn in as President in October. Albanese had the opportunity to meet with Prabowo in Jakarta this May during the annual Australia–Indonesia leaders’ meeting, which took place shortly after the Australian Prime Minister’s reelection. During the meeting, Albanese expressed his excitement about hosting President Prabowo in Australia and reciprocating the warm hospitality he received during his visit to Jakarta earlier in the year.
