To Curb Crimes by Foreigners, Indonesia’s Bali Seeks Consulates’ Assistance

Bali police chief Daniel Adityajaya emphasized the importance of cooperation among consulates to maintain security in the global tourist destination. During a meeting with 24 consulates in Denpasar, Adityajaya highlighted the shared responsibility of ensuring a safe environment for tourism to flourish. Representatives from major consulates like Australia, China, Japan, the US, and Russia were present at the meeting held on October 31, echoing a similar gathering from February. According to Bali police data, 301 criminal cases involving foreign nationals were reported in the first ten months of the year. These cases included violations related to visas, immigration, narcotics, fraud, illegal investing, and cybercrime. Adityajaya stressed the collaborative effort needed to tackle these issues, stating that the police alone cannot solve the problem. Suwandi Prihantoro, director of community development at Bali police, echoed this sentiment by highlighting the involvement of local authorities, agency heads, and immigration officials in maintaining order in Bali.
