How to Register for Regular Hajj and Documents Required

Performing the Hajj pilgrimage is a dream for every Muslim. It is not just a physical journey to the Holy Land but also a spiritual journey towards closeness to Allah SWT. Due to limited quotas and long queues, Muslims in Indonesia need to understand the correct procedure for registering for regular Hajj.
According to the Financial Management Body of Hajj (BPKH) website, regular Hajj is an official program managed by the government through the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. This pathway is intended for the general public with more affordable costs compared to special Hajj. However, the waiting time for departure can reach from tens to dozens of years, depending on the place of origin and provincial quota.
The registration process for regular Hajj begins with depositing the initial Hajj fee (BPIH) at a government-designated bank, followed by verification at the local Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Once the data is deemed complete, the prospective pilgrim will receive a Hajj quota number, which serves as the official indication that they have been registered as a Hajj pilgrim.
Before heading to the designated bank for the deposit, prospective pilgrims need to know the requirements and prepare the necessary documents. According to the Jakarta Provincial Ministry of Religious Affairs website, here are some of the requirements when registering for Hajj:
Being a Muslim
A minimum age of 12 years at the time of registration
Having a valid identification card based on domicile
Having a Family Card
Having a birth certificate or birth certificate copy or marriage certificate or diploma
Having a savings account in the name of the candidate at BPS-BPIH
