On Thursday (Nov. 13), Spotify rolled out a new subscription tier called Premium Platinum in India, Indonesia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. This plan replaces the Premium Family option for new subscribers in these regions. In India, for instance, the Premium Family plan is now exclusive to users who signed up before November 13th, 2025. Premium Platinum allows sharing with up to three users, compared to the Premium Family’s six-user option.
Premium Platinum offers advanced features such as lossless audio quality up to 24-bit/44.1kHz, which became a standard feature in 50 markets like the U.S. and U.K. in September. Additional benefits include playlist mixing, a personal AI DJ, AI playlist creation, connectivity to DJ software, and in select regions, audiobook listening capabilities. The pricing for Premium Platinum varies from 50% to 89% higher than Premium Standard. For example, in India, it costs 299 rupees ($3.37) per month, 50% more than Premium Standard. In South Africa, Premium Platinum is priced at 179.99 rand ($10.55) monthly, 89% higher than Premium Standard.
Spotify provides a consistent range of Premium tiers across all five markets, including Premium Student, Premium Lite, Premium Standard, and the top-tier Premium Platinum. Each tier offers specific features based on its price point. Premium Lite, for instance, has lower audio quality (up to 160kbps) and doesn’t support offline listening to downloaded content. On the other hand, Premium Student and Premium Standard boast better audio quality (up to 320kbps) and allow downloading for offline play. Premium Platinum, the most expensive tier, provides the most features and benefits to users.
