India Imposes Dumping Duty on Met Coke Imports

India has proposed imposing an anti-dumping duty as high as $130 per tonne on the imports of low ash metallurgical coke (met coke), a key steel-making ingredient. This move impacts steel players like JSW Steel and AM/NS, according to sources. The government has recommended duties ranging from $73.5 to $130 per tonne on imports from countries like Australia, China, Colombia, Indonesia, Japan, and Russia. The decision to levy these duties comes amid calls to utilize available resources in the country to support domestic met coke producers. Last month, the government revealed its considerations to protect domestic players by imposing duties on met coke imports.
