STJD Postpones Vitor Roque’s Trial, from Palmeiras, to after the FIFA Date

The STJD (Superior Tribunal of Sports Justice) announced tonight the postponement of the trial of Palmeiras’ striker Vitor Roque. The 2nd Disciplinary Committee of the organization rescheduled the hearing for next Wednesday, the 19th. Initially, the event was scheduled for Monday, the 17th. The Palmeiras attacker was accused of discrimination over a homophobic post after the team’s victory against Sao Paulo last month, where he posted an image of a tiger biting a deer. The new session will take place after the FIFA Date — Vitor Roque was called up by Carlo Ancelotti for Brazil’s matches tomorrow against Senegal and next Tuesday against Tunisia. He even spoke about the issue in an interview with the national team, ‘An educational conversation is already valuable. I want to say that it was not meant the way many are saying (homophobia). It was just a joke. I posted it without any malicious intent.’ The player is at risk of missing the Palmeiras vs. Vitoria match in the Brazilian league, scheduled for the 19th. If there is a punishment from the STJD, the striker could be suspended for between 5 to 10 games.
