Leandro Lo Case: PM accused of homicide is acquitted by jury

Former PM lieutenant Henrique Velozo, accused of the homicide of fighter Leandro Lo, was acquitted by the jury this Friday (14). Speaking to CNN Brazil, Guilherme Drabovski, a lawyer from the Dalledone Law Office, part of the PM’s defense, confirmed the acquittal. Leandro Lo died after being shot in the head at a show in the South Zone of São Paulo in August 2022. The trial began last Wednesday (12) at the Criminal Forum Minister Mário Guimarães in Barra Funda and lasted three days. Remind of the case. The incident occurred in August 2022, when Leandro Lo, an eight-time world champion in the sport, was shot in the head during a show at Clube Sírio in the South Zone of São Paulo. Since then, Lieutenant Velozo has been in preventive custody at the Romão Gomes military prison in the North Zone of the city, being transferred to a regular prison only in October 2025. According to police investigations, Leandro Lo got into an argument at the club. Initially, the fighter allegedly knocked down Military Police officer Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo, who is said to have provoked him. Velozo then left the premises and returned armed, firing a fatal shot to the athlete’s head. After the shot, the officer allegedly kicked Lo twice, even though the fighter was already unconscious on the ground, before leaving the scene.
