Transgender Woman Complained About King of Pastries Attendant

Transgender woman Alice Martins Alves, 33, who was killed after being brutally assaulted in Savassi, Belo Horizonte, publicly denounced a King of Pastries attendant three months ago. This information was disclosed on Saturday (15/11) by the family’s lawyer, Thiago Leonir, who presented an evaluation written by the victim on Google Reviews before the assaults.
In the post, Alice reported being treated with verbal aggression and nearly physically assaulted by an employee of the establishment. She stated that the attendant accused her of not paying a bill and said she couldn’t leave the premises. The victim wrote that she managed to avoid a physical attack only because she sat with other women who witnessed the argument. “I came back to reevaluate, the attendant was extremely aggressive, I was almost assaulted, I only didn’t [get assaulted] because I sat with other girls who served as witnesses. … A very heavy place and the attendants are somewhat dubious… Anyway, I won’t go back…,” Alice posted.
Leonir stated that the report reinforces the seriousness of the case and shows that the victim had already been warning about episodes of violence. “Three months before losing her life in a brutal manner, Alice was already publicly denouncing the violence and aggressive treatment she suffered at this commercial establishment. As family lawyers, we affirm with absolute conviction: there will be no rest until all those involved, directly or indirectly, are held accountable for their actions. Alice’s death will not be silenced,” he said.
Investigations are ongoing
Alice was beaten on October 23, on Contorno Avenue with Getúlio Vargas Avenue, after being chased by two King of Pastries employees. According to the investigation, she had left the establishment without paying a $ 22 bill. The victim suffered rib fractures, intestinal perforation, and other injuries. She died on November 9, due to generalized infection.
The Civil Police have already identified the two men suspected of the attack but have not yet made any arrests. The investigation remains confidential. The family states that they will only feel safe after the detention of those involved.
What King of Pastries says
In a statement released on Friday (14/11), King of Pastries stated that they have been cooperating with the investigations from the beginning, providing all the data requested by the police. “We are waiting and confident in the serious and efficient work being carried out by the police, with the certainty of the correct investigation of the facts and the proper accountability of those involved,” they stated.
The establishment also declared that they do not condone discriminatory actions related to gender identity, sexual orientation, race, or any other nature. The report reached out to King of Pastries again on Saturday to specifically inquire about Alice’s evaluation of the aggressive attendant and is awaiting a response.
