Earlier this year, reports surfaced about New Delhi and Jakarta working on finalizing a $450 million ‘BrahMos missile’ deal. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh disclosed on Saturday that Indonesia has shown interest in acquiring the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. Speaking to BJP workers in Lucknow, Singh mentioned that Jakarta has submitted a bid to purchase the supersonic missile manufactured in Lucknow. Quoting news agency PTI, Singh stated, ‘Indonesia has requested to purchase the BrahMos missile being manufactured in Lucknow.’ This declaration followed Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagging off the initial batch of BrahMos missiles produced at the newly operational BrahMos Aerospace integration and testing facility in Lucknow on October 18.
