Enem 2026 to assess completion of basic education, says MEC

After the conclusion of the National High School Exam (Enem) 2025 on Sunday (16), Minister Camilo Santana participated in a press conference and revealed upcoming changes for the exam starting in 2026. The Enem will replace the Basic Education Assessment System (Saeb) to evaluate the completion of basic education by involving 3rd-year high school students. Additionally, the exam may also be administered in Mercosur countries, such as Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and Asuncion, with a feasibility study currently in progress. The aim of expanding the exam to neighboring countries is to provide access to Brazilian universities for Mercosur students, with plans for testing to be conducted in Portuguese in the capitals of Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
