Goiás ‘eliminates’ Novorizontino in battle and reaches G4 before final round

Packed with a full Hailé Pinheiro, Goiás secured a dramatic victory against Novorizontino by 1-0, keeping the São Paulo team in Serie B for another season and entering the G4 of the tournament before the final round. Veteran Anselmo Ramon, in the second half, scored the only goal of a true battle in Goiânia. The result left Fabio Carille’s team with 61 points and in 4th place on the table, behind only Coritiba, Athletico, and Criciúma – with only Coritiba secured in Serie A for next year so far. Novorizontino, on the other hand, had a bitter afternoon. The team from São Paulo countryside, which finished in 5th place in the last two editions of the 2nd division, remained at 57 points and has no chance of promotion. The teams will play the final round next Sunday afternoon. Goiás faces Remo at Mangueirão, while Novorizontino hosts CRB at Jorge Ismael de Biasi.
