Shortage of Doctors and Engineers Persists in Indonesia, Prabowo Highlights the Importance of STEM

President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the importance of science and technology in achieving success. He stated that Indonesian students must be knowledgeable about these subjects. ‘We understand that education and technology, science is the key to success, it is the key to capability. Education is the key to a nation’s revival,’ said Prabowo at the Launch of Digital Learning for Smart Indonesia at SMPN 4 Kota Bekasi, West Java, on Monday (11/17/2025). Prabowo emphasized the need for scientific and technological skills to produce more engineers and doctors to utilize the natural resources the country possesses. ‘Ladies and gentlemen, our country, our archipelago is the largest in the world, it is extremely rich. But we admit that as a nation, especially its leaders, we are not wise enough to preserve and manage this wealth,’ he stated.
