The Singaporean court sentenced an Australian man to nine days in prison on Monday for advancing towards the cinema star Ariana Grande during the Asian premiere of the movie ‘Wicked: For Good’ last week. Ariana and other celebrities were present at the screening when the man, identified in court documents as Johnson Wen, 26, jumped over a fence and ran towards the artist. Viral videos showed the moment when the assailant surprised Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, a cast mate, ran to defend her. Wen, who is already suspected of disrupting other sports events and international shows, ‘showed a pattern of behavior that suggests he will do it again,’ said Judge Christopher Goh when delivering the sentence. Ariana Grande, 32, started her career on Broadway as a teenager before establishing a successful path as a pop star. In 2017, a concert by the singer was the target of a terrorist attack at the Manchester Arena, which left 22 dead, over a thousand injured, and resulted in post-traumatic stress disorder for her.
