Returning to play in the second match against Gujarat, he excelled in the game, showing his ability to play big innings under pressure as a left-arm spinner all-rounder. Sumit Gupta was also aiming for a century but fell for 97 runs against Railways, after scoring a century in the previous match. His chances of scoring back-to-back centuries were cut short in the ongoing match, leaving him disheartened.
