The 17th U-18 and U-20 Southeast Asian Athletics Championship held at the North Sumatra Athletic Main Stadium in Deli Serdang has come to an end. As a result, the Indonesian contingent emerged as the champions in these age groups. Indonesia successfully amassed 14 gold medals, 15 silver, and 16 bronze. Vietnam secured the second position with 13 gold, 12 silver, and 16 bronze, followed by the Philippines in third place with 11 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze.
In terms of infrastructure, Indonesian Athletics Vice Chairman M Tigor Tanjung stated that the North Sumatra Athletic Main Stadium is suitable for international championships. Despite this, Tigor noted the need for improvements in lighting and managing strong winds. Tigor mentioned that there are still several athletic events in Asia in need of a host. He sees an opportunity for North Sumatra to host such championships in the future.
The championship took place from November 15-18, 2025, with an expected participation of 285 athletes competing in 63 events in the U-18 and U-20 age groups.
