Russian actor and director Sergey Desnitsky passed away

Sergey Desnitsky graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School in 1962 and joined the Sovremennik Theatre before moving to the Moscow Art Theatre, where he served for almost fifty years, playing around a hundred roles. He portrayed numerous Chekhovian characters in productions by Boris Livnov and Oleg Yefremov, working as their assistant on several plays. In 1999, he became the artistic director of the Chekhov Memorial Theatre in Melikhovo. Desnitsky remained with the Moscow Art Theatre until 2017, then focused on directing and writing, penning memoirs and an epic novel.
