Dua Lipa’s Show in Rio: Traffic Scheme for Fans and Drivers in Barra

Approximately 25,000 people are expected for Dua Lipa’s concert at Farmasi Arena in Barra Olímpica, this Saturday (22), prompting CET-Rio to plan a special traffic scheme to accommodate concert-goers and motorists in the area. Traffic agents will be positioned around the venue, and temporary signage, including message boards, will be reinforced. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, try to anticipate their trips, and fans are encouraged to use public transportation as there will be no parking areas nearby, and BRT and metro services will have extended hours. Gates will open at 4 p.m., and the show will start at 9 p.m., ending around 11 p.m. CET-Rio agents, municipal guards, and traffic support staff will guide pedestrians and motorists and enforce traffic rules. The Control and Resilience Center (COR-Rio) will monitor traffic conditions through cameras to make signal adjustments if necessary. Interdictions: Denise Dobbin Bauerfeldt Street will be completely closed to vehicles starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday. BRT: The Rio2 station, recommended for those attending the show in the common area, will operate continuously. Those with premium tickets should exit at the Centro Olímpico Terminal, which will run until 1 a.m. on Sunday. On the day of the show, the Parque Olímpico station will close at 4 p.m. Metro: The Jardim Oceânico station will run until 1 a.m., with three extra trains to Uruguai station in Tijuca. During this time, other stations on lines 1 and 4 will be open only for disembarkation. Line 2 will not be available after regular hours end at midnight. Ride-sharing cars: App-based transport vehicles will have restricted access and cannot be near the gates. Pick-ups and drop-offs will only be allowed in more distant areas subject to blocks. Tour buses: Private buses are not authorized to drive in the restricted area. The show was originally planned for Nilton Santos Stadium in Engenho de Dentro but was moved to the outdoor area of the Farmasi Arena on the same date due to a Botafogo match at the stadium. Tickets purchased before the change remain valid for the new venue. Tickets for Upper Deck, South Deck, and Common Area at Nilton Santos will be equivalent to the Common Area at Barra Olímpica. Lower Deck and Premium tickets will be allocated to the Premium Area at Farmasi Arena. The singer, who has been enjoying her time in Brazil, was spotted at a samba party and a restaurant in Jardim Botânico. She brings to Rio a show from her ‘Radical Optimism Tour’, which includes hits and a local song in her setlist.
