Charles Leclerc, from Ferrari, was the fastest in the first free practice session for the Las Vegas GP, with Alex Albon in second with Williams and Yuki Tsunoda in third with Red Bull. Meanwhile, McLarens struggled to get a clean lap and finished sixth and seventh, with championship leader Lando Norris ahead of vice-leader Oscar Piastri. As always in the first free practice session in Las Vegas, grip levels were quite low, a situation in which Ferraris usually perform well. However, Red Bull also showed strength early on: Max Verstappen was fastest on the medium tire, finishing fourth on softs.
