Indonesian authorities have raised the death toll to 30 from two landslides that occurred in the central region of Java Island recently, during days of heavy and prolonged rains, while 21 people remain missing nearly a week after the last incident. The first landslide occurred last Thursday in the village of Cibeunying, part of Cilacap regency in Central Java province, leaving at least 20 people dead and three missing, according to the Indonesian disaster mitigation agency (BNPB). In another similar incident on Sunday in the village of Pandanarum, part of Banjarnegara regency, also in Central Java, another ten people died and 18 are still missing, as reported by Efe. The bodies of seven of the ten deceased in Pandanarum were found the day before, said BNPB’s Head of Data, Information, and Communication, Abdul Muhari.
