UAE Announces $1 Billion Initiative to Expand AI in Africa

The United Arab Emirates announced a significant investment of $1 billion to enhance AI infrastructure and AI-enabled services across Africa, aiming to assist countries in meeting their national development goals. During the G20 leaders’ summit in Johannesburg, UAE Minister of State Saeed Bin Mubarak Al Hajeri unveiled the ‘AI for development initiative,’ which will focus on implementing AI technology in sectors like education, healthcare, and climate adaptation. Al Hajeri emphasized the importance of AI, stating, ‘We consider AI not just as a future industry but a cornerstone of humanity’s future.’ The UAE is dedicated to fostering innovation, boosting productivity, and driving global economic progress responsibly and inclusively.
