Rain Alert: Possibility of Heavy Rainfall in 16 Districts Today – Meteorological Department Advisory

The southern part of the Bay of Bengal and the atmospheric pressure system above the northern parts are causing a depression in the Southern Bay of Bengal regions since yesterday (Nov. 22). This depression area is moving in a west-northwesterly direction and is likely to intensify into a cyclonic circulation by the 24th, leading to further strengthening in the Southern and Southwestern Bay of Bengal regions over the next 48 hours. This could result in light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas of Tamil Nadu, especially the coastal regions.
